After a couple of hours at the Korean Air First Class lounge in Incheon, it was time to go to Hong Kong on Korean Air B747 First Class. The First Class cabin is located in the nose of the Boeing 747-8. There are only 6 fully enclosed suites in a 1-1 configuration over three rows. I can’t make up my mind whether I love the Airbus A380 more or the Boeing 747 more. However, there’s just something special about siting in the nose of the 747. I was also very lucky to be the only passenger in First Class for this flight.

Flight Details:
Korean Air KE607
Seoul (ICN) – Hong Kong (HKG)
Depart: 7:45PM
Arrive: 10:30PM
Duration: 3hrs 45mins
Aircraft: Boeing 747
Cost: 80,000 Korean Skypass Miles + $82 in fees (For the whole trip from New York to Hong Kong)

As I boarded the aircraft I was greeted by a friendly flight attendant who escorted me to my seat. This First Class cabin is the most private cabin I’ve ever been on. The fully enclosed suites are very spacious and private and offer plenty of storage space.

Here’s a view of the seat with the doors closed from outside the suite.

Here’s the view with the doors closed from inside.

Instead of overhead bins, every suite has a large locker type of storage. The two front suites have their lockers outside of the suite in the space in between at the very front of the cabin.

The seat controls are located to my left along with the entertainment controller.

There’s a couple of storage compartments to the left of the seat by the windows.

The entertainment screen is massive and the ottoman below it is bigger than most economy seats 🙂

Once I settled in my seat, I was asked if I wanted something to drink before we depart. I asked for champagne.

It was served with warm macadamia nuts

Shortly after take off, I was offered the menu.

Quickly after that, dinner service started. The precision by which Korean Air flight attendants set the table is unmatched.

For the appetizer I got peking duck roll with prawn salad.

Then I got the lentil cream soup which was full of flavor.

For the main course I ordered the grilled beef tenderloin with madeira sauce. It was cooked very well and was very tender for airplane steak.

For dessert I skipped the ice cream and got the fruit plate and green tea.

Korean Air B747 First Class Bottom Line:
This was probably my favorite First Class flight yet. The cabin is very low density with only 6 seats. The seat offers incredible privacy with the enclosed suites design. The food and beverage selection is great for a three hour flight. The service was amazing as I was expecting; I guess being the only first class passenger made the experience even better and more personal. However, I’m sure the service would’ve been just as good with a full cabin.
The only problem I had with this flight, is that it was too short 🙂
