This two week Euro Trip started with a 7 hour flight on Swiss Air A330 Business Class. I booked this flight using 55,000 Aeroplan miles transferred from American Express Membership Rewards points at a 1:1 ratio plus $22.50 in taxes.
Our flight was schedule for departure at 9:00PM. We arrived at JFK Terminal 4 a little after 7:00PM. At that time, we were the only ones checking in at the business class counter. We got our boarding passes and quickly went through security on the much shorter premium cabin line. Once passed security the Swiss Air Business class lounge is located on the right hand side.

We boarded the plane on time and quickly found our seats in row 7. The first thing I noticed as soon as I saw the seats; they’re not very wide. Swiss Air A330 business class cabin consists of 45 flat bed seats that are 20.5 inches wide and have 60 inches of pitch.
The seats have a staggered configuration where some seats by the window are single seats and some are double. The double seats are okay for travelling with a companion since the person in the window seat does not have aisle access and will have to climb over their seat mate in order to get out of their seat.
The single seats “throne-seats” by the window are amazing for those who are travelling alone. Not only will you have a window and aisle access at the same time, but you’ll also have a ton more space, storage area and privacy than all other seats.
Waiting at my seat was a blanket, pillow and a pair of headphones.
All the controls were to my right- entertainment controls, seat controls, reading light and a power port.
Shortly after boarding I was offered a pre departure drink of champagne, water or orange juice. I opted for champagne as one normally would 🙂
Flight attendants came by to give us the amenity kits.
Menus were distributed soon after that.
A short while after take off dinner service started. The whole meal except for dessert was served at once on a tray. I guess that makes things efficient. I chose the roast beef tenderloin and Jessica ordered the grilled chicken breast. Both were good.
The creme brulee cheese cake was pretty good.
I tried to sleep but I wasn’t very sleepy. The bed was not the roomiest I had in business class but it was ok.
I checked out the wifi pricing and decided not to bother.
After tossing and turning for almost the entire flight it was already time for the pre arrival breakfast. I chose the croissant, fruit plate, Greek yogurt and a cappuccino.
Swiss Air A330 Business Class Bottom Line:
Swiss Air A330 Business Class wasn’t too bad for this 7 hour flight. I probably wouldn’t love it for a longer flight. The seats are on the narrow side. I felt service was a bit rushed. I wouldn’t pick this as a first choice to cross the Atlantic. However, given Swiss Air relatively good award availability and very low taxes and fees, it’s hard to beat.
