Transfer Citi ThankYou Points To JetBlue and Get 50% Bonus

JetBlue is a relatively new transfer partner to Citi ThankYou. Starting tomorrow through April 30th you can transfer Citi ThankYou points to JetBlue with a 50% bonus. Citi has different transfer ratios depending on which credit card you have.

  • For Citi Prestige and Citi Premier card holders:
    • You’ll get 1.5 TrueBlue points for every 1.25 ThankYou points transferred.
      That’s a ratio of 1:1.2
  • For Citi Preferred and Forward card holders:
    • You’ll get 1.5 TrueBlue points for every 2 ThankYou points transferred.
      That’s a ratio of 4:3

Value of Transferred Points:

True Blue is a revenue based program which typically values each TrueBlue points at ~1.5 cents. This means that – assuming you have a Citi Premier or Citi Prestige – you’ll get a value of 1.8 cents / ThankYou point with this 50% bonus. That’s a fantastic value. You can even get a higher value if you hold the JetBlue Plus credit card since it refunds 10% of all redemptions. This means you’ll be getting ~2cents/point transferred with this bonus from your Citi Premier or Citi Prestige ThankYou points stash.

jetblue mint class review

Booking Transcontinental JetBlue Mint Class With This Bonus:

I had the pleasure of flying in JetBlue Mint from New York to Los Angeles and it was a great experience. A one way flight from JFK to LAX in JetBlue Mint normally costs $559 or 42,200 TruBlue points.

transfer citi thankyou points to jetblue

With this bonus; to book the above flight you’ll need to transfer only 35,167 ThankYou points if you have the Prestige or the Premier ThankYou cards. This is a great use of ThankYou points.

Bottom Line:

As I always say, when it comes to purchasing miles, although this seems to be a good deal to top off your TrueBlue account, I can’t encourage transferring miles unless you have a use for them within the next few months. What’s great about ThankYou points is that they’re flexible to transfer to several other partners. Once transferred to JetBlue, they lose their flexibility. However, if you have a JetBlue redemption in the near future; this is a good deal.
