Our trip to Hawaii started with two segments on American Airlines first class. The first segment was from New York JFK to Los Angeles LAX on a three cabin A321 American Airlines flight. We arrived at Terminal 8 around 7am for our 9am flight. We proceeded to Flagship check-in which is located at the far right of the terminal. Flagship check-in and access to the American Airlines Flagship Lounge New York JFK is for three cabin first class passengers; which means those traveling to LAX or SFO in first class, as well as those traveling in international first class and Concierge Key members.

The Flagship check-in area is beautifully designed. Unfortunately, there was only one lady at the check-in desk. There was a family of four ahead of us and it took a relatively long time to get them all checked-in and take their luggage. Once it was our turn, things moved pretty quickly and smoothly.american airlines flagship lounge new york jfk

A nice thing about Flagship check-in is that the exit on the opposite side leads to a separate security line, which took us only a couple of minutes to get thru.

Once passed security, the American Airlines Flagship Lounge is located on the left side where you take an elevator one level up.

As soon as you exit the elevator, you’ll find the reception area which leads to both the Admirals Club and the Flagship Lounge. The agent will check your boarding pass and if you’re eligible for access to the Flagship lounge, you’ll be escorted through.

The Flagship lounge is fairly large and this early in the morning it was practically empty. There are a few different seating areas, but as an aviation geek 🙂 and a lover of airplanes I chose to sit by the window.

On the opposite end of the lounge of where I was sitting was  a business center with a few computers and a printer.

The breakfast spread was pretty decent with a good selection – nothing over the top.

There’s definitely no shortage of drinks at the American Airlines Flagship Lounge 🙂

The Flagship lounge has a few showers available which is a good option if you’re connecting through JFK.

We hung out for a while, ate breakfast and enjoyed the views outside the windows until it was time to head over to our gate.

American Airlines Flagship Lounge New York JFK Bottom Line:

The lounge was very good for the short duration we spent there. The food was pretty decent, there was wifi available, it wasn’t crowded and very quiet – probably due to our early departure time. The availability of showers is great if you’re connecting through New York after a long international flight. Overall, I had a great experience at the American Airlines Flagship Lounge.
