Discover Announced 5% Cash Back Calendar for 2019

Discover Announced their 5% cash back calendar for 2019 for their Discover it Cash Back credit card. Similar to the Chase Freedom, the Discover it Cash Back credit card earns 5% cash-back on rotating categories that change every quarter. Here are the categories for 2019.

• January – March 2019: 5% back at grocery stores
• April – June 2019: 5% back at gas stations, Uber and Lyft
• July – September 2019: 5% back at Restaurants
• October – December 2019: 5% back at Amazon.com

These are pretty solid categories that almost everyone can make the most out of them. Keep in mind that you can earn 5% in each quarter after enrollment, on up to $1,500 in purchases after which you’ll earn 1% back. You have to activate your card to earn the bonus in each quarter; you can do that at this link

What’s special about the Discover it Card is that after signing up for the card, Discover will match the cash-back you earned over your first year of having the card. So if you max out each category in each quarter, you can potentially earn 10% back on $6,000 for a total of $600. That’s a great deal!

Bottom Line:

The Discover it Cash Back credit card is an awesome no annual fee card. Getting 10% cash back on popular spend categories in the first year is a very impressive offer.
