If you have the Platinum Card from American Express, make sure to check your emails for the chance to earn 10,000 bonus Membership Rewards Points. This is a benefit from AMEX which gives you the flexibility to carry a balance or pay your bill in full each month. The Extended Payment Option is one of the Pay Over Time features we may offer. Not all Card Members are eligible to use Pay Over Time features. Requests to pay over time are approved based on several factors including account history, current account status and credit record at time of request. Upon enrollment in the Extended Payment Option, we will assess your current Pay Over Time Limit, which may be set starting at $10,000.

If you enroll in the Extended Payment Option, all eligible charges, made by you and any Additional Card Members on your account, will automatically be placed into your Pay Over Time balance. A charge is eligible to be paid over time if it is equal to or more than $100 and is approved by us. This amount is subject to change and we will tell you if we change it. We will not place any charge into a Pay Over Time balance if it causes your Pay Over Time balance to go over your Pay Over Time Limit, as previously disclosed. You must pay in full all charges that are not placed into a Pay Over Time balance upon receipt of your billing statement. Please note that a charge may be ineligible for extended payment even if it would not cause your Pay Over Time balance to exceed that amount. The terms and conditions previously disclosed to you in the Select & Pay Later welcome letter and in the Pay Over Time section of your Card Member Agreement apply to your enrollment in the Extended Payment Option.

The following types of charges are ineligible for a Pay Over Time feature: Cash and Express Cash, American Express ^® Travelers Cheques and other cash equivalents, casinos and other gambling transactions, any fees owed to American Express except foreign transaction fees, and other transactions designated by us.

The Annual Percentage Rate (“APR”) for Pay Over Time features may vary and is determined by adding the Prime Rate plus 14.99%, currently 18.49%. A variable penalty APR of the Prime Rate plus25.99%, currently 29.49%,may apply to your account if you make one or more late payments, or if your payment is returned. We may also consider your creditworthiness in determining whether or not to apply the penalty APR. If a Penalty APR is applied, it will apply for at least 6 months. We will review your Account every 6 months after the Penalty APR is applied. The Penalty APR will continue to apply until you have made timely payments with no returned payments during the 6 months being reviewed. Variable APRs vary with the market based on the Prime Rate and are accurate as of 07/21/2016. If you have enrolled in a Pay Over Time promotional APR offer, the terms disclosed to you with that offer apply.

As a benefit of this feature, eligible charges made by any Additional Card Members on your American Express Card Account will also qualify for extended payment.

This offer to enroll remains valid as long as you are a Card Member in good standing and there has not been a material change to your credit worthiness.
