Earn 10,000 Starpoints for Every SPG Amex Referral

American Express is one of the few credit card issuers that offer their members a referral program. It’s a nice incentive for telling your friends and family about a particular card that you enjoy it’s benefits and want them to do the same. The usual referral bonus is 5,000 points per approved application, but American Express is doubling this offer until June 15th.

You can now earn 10,000 Starpoints for every SPG Amex referral to either SPG card – The Starwood Preferred Guest^®Credit Card from American Express or the Starwood Preferred Guest^®Business Credit Card from American Express OPEN.

Remember you can earn up to 55,000 points from referrals per calendar year, offer expires 6/15/16 and according to the terms and conditions “you are responsible for any federal or state taxes resulting from the Referral Bonus”

Your friends will receive 25,000 bonus points from either card. However, the Starwood Preferred Guest^®Business Credit Card from American Express OPEN requires $5,000 minimum spend within the first 3 months. While the Starwood Preferred Guest^®Credit Card from American Express requires $3,000 minimum spend within the first 3 months.

If you have the Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card you can earn 10,000 Starpoints (“Referral Bonus”) for each new Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card application you refer resulting in an approved account, and if you have the Starwood Preferred Guest Business Credit Card you can earn a Referral Bonus for each new Starwood Preferred Guest Business Credit Card application you refer that results in an approved account, in each case up to a maximum of 55,000 Starpoints per calendar year for each version of the Card. To earn the Referral Bonus, (a) you must submit referral(s) by 6/15/2016 and (b) the referred individual(s) must apply to the specific offer online through the e-mailed link provided by American Express and be approved by 6/15/2016.

This offer is available online only to Basic Card Members. Please allow 6-8 weeks for the Referral Bonus to post to your account after each referred individual is approved for the Card. You cannot earn a Referral Bonus for those who currently have the Card you recommended or for individuals who have been referred by someone else. Due to the confidential nature of the credit approval process, you will not be notified of whether we approve or decline any application(s) from individual(s) you refer. Bottom Line:

Earning 10,000 Strapoints from referrals is a great bonus given the high value of Starpoints. If you get two people to apply through your link, you’ll ultimately get 25,000 miles in over 30 airlines since SPG adds 5,000 bonus miles to every 20,000 points transferred. If you have the card and know someone who could use 25,000 bonus Starpoints, refer them through your link. I know we’ve seen higher sign-up bonus offers before for the SPG credit card, but there are no guarantees on when this will happen again given the merger situation between SPG and Marriott
