After an amazing flight from New York on Japan Airlines’ Dreamliner Business Class. A few hours at the Sakura Business class lounge. It was finally time to go to Hong Kong. This segment of our trip was on the far inferior Japan Airlines Business Class on their Boeing 767-300. This segment of the trip was still under the same award booking that cost us 50,000 American Airlines miles and $5.60 – these are pre-devaluation prices. The same trip now will cost 60,000 American Airlines miles- which is not that bad.
Flight Details:
Japan Airlines 735
Tokyo (NRT) – Hong Kong (HKG)
Depart: 6:10pm
Arrive: 10:30pm
Duration: 5hr 20mins
Aircraft: BOEING 767-300
Seats:3A & 3C
The business cabin consists of 30 seats spread over 5 rows in a 2x2x2 configuration
The seats were comfortable, however, they were only reclining seats.
There’s plenty of legroom.
The seat controls looked very outdated and were pretty difficult to use.
Dinner service started shortly after takeoff. The food was very delicious and flavorful.
Ice cream was served for dessert which I devoured before remembering to take a picture 🙂
The entertainment screen folds into the seat and is pretty small. I didn’t get to checkout what kind of shows or movies they offered since I fell asleep as soon as dinner service was over.

Japan Airlines Business Class Bottom Line:
Even tho the hard product on this flight was a bit rough compared to the much newer seats and planes; the soft product more than made up for it. The Japan Airlines crew was very pleasant, helpful and really cares to make your flight as comfortable as possible and the food was very delicious. Given that this wasn’t a long haul flight, the seats were good enough and I was so tired that I managed to fall asleep with ease.
