After spending some time at the Korean Air First Class lounge, it was time to head to the gate. Even tho I didn’t enjoy the lounge, I was excited for my Korean Air A380 First Class flight from New York to Seoul. As I approached the gate, I saw the massive A380 waiting there in all it’s glory. I still can’t get over how amazing this aircraft is.

During boarding I was the only one on the First Class line. I quickly boarded the plane after people with children. Once on the plane, I was shown to my seat 3A. I really like how spacious the First Class cabin is on Korean’s A380. I was the only passenger in the cabin for a long time, so I was able to get some good pictures.
Korean Air’s A380 First Class cabin is located at the front of the lower deck. Consisting of 12 open suites with 180 degree recline in a 1-2-1 configuration. For this flight I had a window seat since I was traveling alone. The center seats look very comfortable for couples traveling together given you can easily communicate with each other since seats are not staggered or angled.
The seat is very wide and comfortable.
Ample leg room.
To the left of seat are the entertainment controls, large tray table and plenty of storage.
To the right of the seat are the seat controls. Including the controls for raising and lowering the shield around the seat.
Also, to the right of the seat is a small storage area for magazines and a cell phone. I also found these helpful stickers.
Soon after settling in I was asked if I wanted a pre-departure drink; I asked for a glass of water. It was provided with some macadamia nuts. This water fountain looking fixture is actually a reading light 🙂
Shortly after that, I was offered pajamas, a blanket and a set of Bose headphones.
Later, another flight attendant came to give me the amenity kit. It had all the essentials. lip balm, lotion, face cream, toothbrush, toothpaste, eye shades and a shoe horn.
A little after take off I was given the menus for the flight. The flight attendant came back to take my order and my meal started off with some Perrier-Jouet Belle Epoque Rose 2005
For appetizer I had the dried tomato, mozzarella, olive bruschetta
After the appetizer my table was set so nicely and neatly! Everything was placed with great precision.
Next course was the foie-gras terrine served with fig compote. This dish was delicious; I’m a huge foie-gras fan!
Next was the fresh champignon cream soup
For the main course I ordered the Korean ‘Bibimbap’. Adding some sesame oil and ‘Gochujang’ (Korean Hot pepper) on that dish and it was absolutely delicious.
After dinner the flight attendants passed around with a cheese and fruit cart and I asked to have a little bit of everything.
Finally, it was dessert time. I had the opera cake and ice cream.
After dinner, I changed into the pajamas which were very soft and comfy.
Then I went to check out the bars and lounges onboard. There’s a small bar infront of the first class cabin.
There are two business class lounges on the upper deck. One on the front and a bigger one in the back of the plane. I went straight to the main lounge known as “Celestial Lounge” which is sponsored Absolut. When I got to the lounge there were some snacks out, as I attempted to grab one, the flight attendant at the bar quickly said ” no sir, please wait”. A few seconds later she came back with a fresh batch of snacks and also snacks that are only offered for First Class passengers. I’m pretty sure they knew I was a First Class passenger and not a Business Class from the Pajamas 🙂
On my way back to my seat, I stopped at the front lounge which has a couple of couches and a small area with some drinks and glasses.
I checked the inflight entertainment for a bit then went to bed. I had asked the flight attendant if it’s possible to make the seat across the aisle from me into my bed and by the time I came back the bed was made 🙂
After waking up I ordered dinner, which started with a salad.
For the main course I ordered roasted chicken thigh with pesto cream sauce served with potato, vegetable lasagne.
Before landing I ordered a cappuccino and warm cookies.
Korean Air A380 First Class Bottom Line:
Korean Air First Class was incredible! I enjoyed every aspect of the flight. The cabin feels very spacious and fresh. I found the seat to be very wide and comfortable with ample leg room. The food was great in variety, quality and quantity. The A380 aircraft is amazing, hanging out at a bar and socializing with other passengers 40,000 feet in the air is pretty incredible. The service tho was definitley a highlight of the trip. Everything was done with extreme precision and purpose.
